Prophet Obafemi Y.I. afin surrendered his life to Christ and became a born-again Christian at age twelve. Before the end of his secondary education at the age of sixteen, he was ordained by Pastor W.F Kumuyi as the leader of the youth house fellowship at Ipaja, Lagos. His house fellowship was a success. It grew numerically and spiritually from youth house fellowship to a virtuous Church. Obafemi was later ordained as a missionary pastor on Sunday, 21st of March, 1993.
Obafemi began his work as a missionary pastor on Monday, 22nd March 1993, and made his first missionary trip to Abidjan in Ivory Coast. From there, he travelled to several countries for evangelical campaigns, during which God confirmed the preaching of his Word with many miracles of healing and blessings. He also organized evangelistic campaigns in many villages and cities, where he encountered diverse persecutions, because his message emphasized that: “Jesus Christ is God and that only the Holy Bible is the True Word of God”.
It was in obedience to the great vision of the visit of Jesus Christ on Friday, 12th December 1997, that Obafemi started his ministry, on Saturday, 27th December 1997, in his living room in Porto Novo, Benin Republic.
Affin International Ministry was born during a prayer meeting where seven adult Christians from different denominations were in attendance. The prayer meeting grew and became a group of more than five hundred people as Christ intervened and changed the lives of the people in response to prayers and the proclamation of the gospel.
The power of God filled the environment daily, attracting crowd and maintaining the growth of the group. Soon, the place became too small to contain the seekers of the God of miracles. Consequently, the group moved from Obafemi’s living room to a rented hall and later to its current headquarters and eventually to the global world. They were sensitive to the move of the Holy Spirit because they sought something deeper, for they had gone through the insignificant and helpless Christian life, but now were daily hungry for the power and manifestation of God.
On Sunday 26th December 1999, this charismatic group was formally inaugurated, and they celebrated Sunday worship for the first time, under the name “Christ Spirit and Fire Church", which was revealed to Obafemi during his personal fasting and prayer. This group grew both numerically and spiritually. Those who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ increased more and more.
Today, Affin International Ministry has founded several schools to train its members and non members alike in specific areas of human capacity development. These schools have programs that provide students with quality academic training and prepare men and women for God's service.
